Build & Migrate
Wix to Shopify Migration
Outgrow the builder, properly.
(opens in a new tab) Wix runs out of road exactly where a growing store needs it most: real variant and inventory management, an app ecosystem built for ecommerce rather than for websites in general, and a checkout that scales. We rebuild the storefront properly on Shopify, carry every product, customer and order across, and redirect every ranking URL before launch.
Stores we have built and moved
Certified, not badge-only Nothing exports from Wix, so the honest version of this job is a rebuild.
Read the platform comparisonProducts and contacts come out as CSV. The pages, the design and the structure do not, because Wix produces no site files another platform can read. What decides whether the move goes well is the storefront you design in their place and the redirect map you build before launch.

How we migrate a Wix site to Shopify
The crawl and the rebuild brief happen before anything moves. Your Wix site keeps trading the whole time, and the domain switches only once every old URL resolves.
-
Audit and Crawl
We map the current Wix site in full: the catalogue, the content and every indexed URL. The crawl is the part most migrations skip, and it is the part that protects your rankings.
-
Migration Plan and Redirect Map
A written plan with the data mapping, the rebuild brief and the full redirect map, signed off before anything moves. Disagreements are cheap at this stage and expensive after launch.
-
Build and Migrate on Staging
Data migrated, the Shopify storefront rebuilt, and redirects implemented, all on staging first. You click through the real store with your real catalogue before anyone commits to a date.
-
Launch and Monitor
Pre-launch QA across real devices, managed go-live, then monitoring of rankings, redirect hits and errors through the weeks that follow, with a named person to call.
Wix to Shopify migration
Why brands outgrow Wix
Wix runs out of road exactly where a growing store needs it most: real variant and inventory management, an ecommerce app ecosystem with genuine depth, and a checkout built to scale rather than to launch quickly. There is no clean export from Wix, so the honest version of this migration is a rebuild, not a lift-and-shift.
We migrate UK and US brands off Wix onto Shopify, designing a proper storefront around your existing brand and content rather than approximating the old layout in a new system. Products, customers, order history and blog content all move across, with every old Wix URL redirected.
This suits a Wix store that has outgrown the builder: a catalogue too complex for Wix variants, or a checkout losing sales at a volume that now justifies a proper platform. If the store is small and still finding its market, staying on Wix a while longer usually costs less than migrating early.
- A proper Shopify storefront rebuilt from your brand, not a Wix template exported and patched
- Zero data loss: products, customers, order history and blog content all transferred
- Every old Wix URL redirected to its Shopify equivalent before launch
- Access to Shopify's ecommerce app ecosystem, built for stores rather than for websites in general

What a Wix to Shopify migration includes
Not a feature grid. Three questions: what the storefront and the catalogue become, how the store keeps what it has already earned, and what the move actually unlocks.
The storefront and the catalogue
Storefront Rebuild
Wix has no clean export for its proprietary block-based design system, so a Wix migration is a genuine rebuild rather than a lift-and-shift. We take your brand and your existing content and design a real Shopify storefront around it, rather than approximating the old layout in a new system.
Catalogue and Variant Migration
Wix's product and variant model was built for simple catalogues. We migrate against Shopify's actual variant and inventory structure, and flag anywhere a product genuinely needs restructuring before launch rather than after a customer finds it broken.
What you have already earned
Content and Blog Migration
Posts, pages and media move across, and every old Wix URL gets its own redirect. Nothing gets left behind because it lived in the Wix content system rather than the product catalogue.
SEO Preservation
Wix and Shopify structure URLs differently, so a like-for-like redirect map is the part that protects whatever rankings the Wix site has already earned. Every indexed URL is crawled, mapped to its Shopify equivalent and given a 301 before launch, with a before-and-after crawl comparison so any loss is visible rather than discovered a month later.
What the move unlocks
The App Ecosystem You Were Missing
Shopify's app ecosystem is built specifically for ecommerce: subscriptions, loyalty, reviews, advanced shipping rules, all with real depth. We help you replace whatever workaround Wix forced on you with the native or app-based answer that actually does the job.
Launch and the Weeks After
Managed go-live with the team on hand, then close monitoring of rankings, redirects and error logs through the period where migration problems actually surface. A migration is not finished on launch day, and pricing it as though it is helps nobody.
Decide
Before anything moves, the honest question is whether it should. A store still finding its market usually keeps more by staying put another year.
Wix to Shopify migration
The test is what you have stopped trying to sell
The fee comparison is the wrong argument, and it is the one everybody has. The useful test is whether you have changed what you sell, or how you sell it, to fit what the platform allows. A bundle you did not launch. A subscription you shelved. An integration you gave up on.
If you can name two, the platform is costing you revenue and the move pays for itself. If nothing comes to mind, staying is the cheaper answer and we will tell you so, even though we only make money when you go.
Outgrowing the builder
What you are actually comparing
Wix is genuinely good at the thing it was built for, which is getting a site live quickly without anyone's help. The seven lines below are where the two platforms diverge once the store is the business rather than a supporting part of it, and the monthly fee is rarely the line that decides it.
| Capability | Wix | Shopify and Shopify Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Getting live | Fast, and without anyone’s help. A real strength | A build, done properly once |
| Taking it with you | Products and contacts export as CSV. The pages, design and structure do not | Themes, content and data are portable, and stay yours |
| Catalogue and variants | Built for simple catalogues. Many variants, bundles and per-group pricing get awkward | Variants and metafields, with per-buyer price lists on Plus |
| Apps and integrations | A fraction of what serious commerce runs on. The tool you need may not connect | Built for ecommerce: subscriptions, loyalty, reviews, shipping rules |
| Checkout | Built to launch quickly | Built in, and extendable on Plus |
| Finding help | A much smaller pool of specialists to hire from | Most ecommerce specialists already work on it |
| Moving on, later | A rebuild, because nothing exports | A theme swap and a data export, not a rebuild |
Migrate
The rebuild, the catalogue and the redirects. Everything that decides whether the store you land on is better than the one you left.
Migrate Wix to Shopify
A storefront designed, not approximated
Because the Wix design cannot come with you, there is a choice at the start of every one of these projects: approximate the old layout in a new system, or design the store properly. Approximating it carries the compromises you made for the builder into a platform that does not have them.
So we take the brand and the content and design a real Shopify storefront around it, then put the catalogue into Shopify’s own variant and inventory structure rather than a copy of the Wix one. Anywhere a product genuinely needs restructuring, you hear about it before launch rather than after a customer finds it.
Wix Shopify migration service
Every URL you earned gets somewhere to land
Wix and Shopify structure URLs differently, and none of your Wix addresses survives the move unless somebody maps it deliberately. That is the single biggest factor in whether a migration protects your rankings or quietly spends them, and it is the easiest part of the project to underestimate.
Every indexed URL is crawled, mapped to its Shopify equivalent and given a 301 before launch, with Search Console’s own list pulled in beside the crawl. Afterwards the crawl is re-run and compared, so a page that went missing is found by us rather than by your traffic graph six weeks later.
Before you commit
What usually goes wrong
Six failures account for most of the damage a move off a builder platform does, and none of them is exotic. Each one is cheap to prevent and expensive to find afterwards, which is why the crawl and the plan come before anything is quoted as a build.
It gets quoted as an export and delivered as a rebuild
Wix produces no portable site files, so the pages, the design and the structure cannot move. Anybody pricing this as a data transfer has not looked at the site yet, and the gap turns up halfway through, when it is expensive.
The redirect map is built from the sitemap
A sitemap says what you want indexed, not what Google actually has. We crawl the live site and pull Search Console’s own list beside it, because the pages earning the most are often the ones nobody remembers building.
The domain and the email move together
A builder platform often holds the domain, and the business email can sit on the same DNS zone as the site. Getting the website right and the mail records wrong does not inconvenience a marketing channel, it stops the enquiries arriving.
The password reset lands as a surprise
Passwords cannot move between platforms, for security reasons, so every customer is invited to set a new one. Timed and worded with you, it reads as part of the launch. Sent cold, it reads as a phishing email.
The staging store gets indexed
A staging build left crawlable competes with the site it is replacing, and occasionally beats it. Password it on day one and check the index before launch.
Wix is switched off too early
Because nothing exported, Wix holds the only copy of pages, layouts and media nobody thought to save. Keep the subscription running for a while after cutover, even though paying for it feels like a cost you have just escaped.
The problems that matter rarely appear on launch day. They appear when Google recrawls, when the first customer tries an old bookmark, and when a form that used to land in an inbox stops arriving. So the same developers stay on it, watching redirect hits and errors daily at first and tracking rankings against the pre-launch crawl.
Support after launchHow we work with you
A look before a quote
A crawl of the live Wix site, a catalogue review and a written redirect map, priced on its own. You end up owning a migration plan whoever eventually does the work, and a clear answer on whether it is worth doing yet.
Fixed feeRebuild and migrate
The storefront designed and built on Shopify, the catalogue, customers, orders and content carried across, the redirects in place, and a launch date agreed once staging passes. The people who quoted it are the people on it.
ProjectLaunch, then stay on it
A migration is judged in the weeks after go-live, not on the day. The same developers watch redirect hits, rankings and error logs, and pick up the work the new platform makes possible.

Read before you decide
The brands behind the stores we build and run.
Partners
Tools we have already run on our own stores.
The apps around a Shopify store decide as much as the theme does, and choosing between thousands of them is most of the work. We are a Shopify Plus Partner and we integrate the tools that sit around the platform. Every one of them runs on our own two stores before it reaches a client, so the recommendation you get comes from having paid for the thing and lived with it. When a brand already runs a stack that works, we integrate with it rather than rebuilding it to suit us.
How we use themStraight answers
Is this a redesign, or just a data migration?
Both, honestly. Wix has no clean export for its design system, so we design a proper Shopify storefront around your brand and content rather than approximating the old Wix layout in a new system.
Will we lose our Google rankings when we migrate from Wix?
Not if the redirects are handled properly. We map every indexed Wix URL to its Shopify equivalent before launch and verify them on the live domain afterwards.
What happens to our Wix blog and content?
Posts, pages and media migrate across, and every old Wix URL redirects to its new Shopify equivalent. Nothing gets left behind because it lived in the content system rather than the product catalogue.
Can Shopify handle a catalogue that has outgrown Wix?
Yes, that is usually the reason for the move. We migrate against Shopify's real variant and inventory structure and flag anywhere a product genuinely needs restructuring before launch.
How much downtime does the migration cause?
None your customers will see. Your Wix site keeps trading while we build on a separate Shopify store, and the domain switches only once every old URL resolves.
Do you migrate US Wix stores from the UK?
Yes. We run migrations for US brands out of London, and the time difference helps: work done here overnight lands before your team starts the day.
Is switching from Wix the right move for you?
Worth a conversation
- The catalogue has outgrown what Wix variants can describe
- A tool you need does not connect, and there is no workaround left
- The checkout is losing sales at a volume that now justifies a proper platform
- You are about to invest another two years into a site you cannot take with you
Probably not this, yet
- The store is small and still finding its market
- Wix is doing its job and the store converts
- The real problem is the design, not the platform
- The site is a supporting part of the business rather than the business
