Web design & search · Solar & renewables

Web, ads and search for solar and renewables installers.

A solar installer sells a survey and a system, not a basket. The site, the ads and the search exist to turn a search into that enquiry, and to prove which one paid.

01 Why solar installers work with us

One team for the site, the ads and the search

A solar installer does not want three suppliers to manage. We build the site, run the Google and Meta ads, and do the search work behind it, so the click the ads paid for lands on a page built to convert. Founder-led, 100+ builds across the US and the UK.

The booked survey is the metric, not the visit

Nothing sells online here, so a session count is noise. We instrument the enquiry and the call and tie each back to the search or ad that produced it, so you can see which spend booked which install.

A considered purchase needs a trusted page

Solar is a big, slow decision full of payback maths and supplier doubt. The site has to answer that head-on, with credibility and the numbers visible, rather than lead with a form nobody trusts yet.

02 How a payback calculation becomes a survey booking

Solar is bought with a spreadsheet and lost to a reputation other people earned. Nothing here is a lead you buy from us, and in this market that distinction carries more weight than in any other. It is a machine you own: built to answer the sums honestly, to look nothing like the firms that gave the trade its name, and to fill a survey diary with roofs worth visiting.

  1. The site has to do the maths, because they are doing it anyway

Every solar buyer works out payback before speaking to anyone. A site showing real system sizes, real costs and an honest payback range gets to be the source of that calculation. One that hides everything behind a form sends them somewhere else to do it.

  2. Looking unlike a cold caller is a design decision

This trade carries a reputation earned by other people, and buyers arrive suspicious. Named installs down to the street, accreditations where they can be checked, no countdown timers and no free-survey urgency. Restraint reads as competence here in a way it does not everywhere.

  3. Search catches them during the months of reading

The decision takes weeks and most of it is spent searching: panel counts, battery sizing, export rates, whether it works on a north-facing roof. Those specific terms are winnable and they compound, which matters when the same enquiry is sold at auction to four installers.

  4. Ads work where the intent is already formed

Broad solar advertising is expensive and full of tyre-kickers. Paid pointed at the questions somebody close to deciding is actually asking, landing on the page that answers exactly that, buys attention worth having rather than clicks from the merely curious.

  5. Qualification keeps the surveyor off the wrong roof

A survey is a half day, and a roof facing the wrong way was never a job. Roof direction, property type, whether they own it, rough usage and whether a battery is wanted, asked on the form, sorts a system worth designing from a conversation worth ten minutes.

  6. Certification and heat pumps are where the grant money actually lands

A homeowner chasing a grant checks the certification before the price, so MCS installer marketing is a qualification exercise as much as a sales one. Heat pump marketing behaves differently again: longer consideration, more scepticism, and a scheme that keeps moving. Marketing for solar installers that only sells solar PV misses the retrofit work now carrying the margin.

Solar marketing questions, answered

What experience do you have with solar installers?

The work a solar installer needs is the work we do: a site whose job is the enquiry rather than a checkout, ads that have to pay for themselves, and search that keeps the right work coming in. What we do is the whole engine: Google Ads and Meta for the enquiries you need this month, SEO for the ones that keep arriving without a media budget behind them, and a funnel between the two that brings the cost per lead down and qualifies what reaches your team. It connects to the CRM you already run, so a lead is tracked rather than retyped, and it is built as a foundation you can scale on rather than something that breaks at three times the volume. Founder-led, 100+ builds across the UK and the US. Tell us how your survey and quote requests arrive today and we will show you where the site, the ads and the search move first.

Is solar SEO worth it when the grant rules keep changing?

Yes, and the changes are part of why. Every time the scheme rules move the search volume moves with them, and the firms already ranking for the explanatory terms pick up the enquiries while everyone else is rewriting their homepage. Solar SEO is slower than ads and it does not switch off when the budget does, which matters in a trade where demand arrives in waves rather than evenly.

Do you do ads as well as the website and SEO?

Yes, and for a solar installer the three are one job. A solar marketing agency that separates the site, the ads and the search into three suppliers is how a quiet quarter becomes an argument. We run the marketing, the paid media and the site together.

Do you do lead generation, or do you sell leads?

We build the lead generation, we do not resell leads. Solar in particular is plagued by resold shared leads; we build your own site, ads and search producing enquiries that belong only to you.

Should the site have a savings or payback calculator?

Yes, and it is probably the highest-value thing you can build. Almost every solar enquiry begins as a maths question the customer cannot answer, and a calculator that gives them a credible range turns a browse into a booked survey. The rule is that the number has to be defensible, because a figure you revise downwards on the survey costs you the job and the review.

Where does MCS certification go?

Everywhere, with the certificate number. It is the requirement for the export tariff and most grant routes, so for an informed customer it is a filter rather than a badge, and being unable to find it reads as not having it. It belongs in the footer and on every product page, not on an about page.

The industry has a reputation problem. Can the website deal with that?

It can do more about it than anything else you own. The buyer has usually read about mis-sold installs before they reach you, so the things that separate you are the unglamorous ones: named installers, real addresses, your own photographs, a clear price range and no countdown timers. Being visibly unlike a pressure seller is a positioning decision the site can carry.

Do battery storage and EV chargers need their own pages?

Yes, because they are searched on their own and increasingly bought on their own. Battery retrofits to existing arrays are a growing enquiry from people who did not buy their panels from you, which is new business a solar-only site cannot catch. One real page each, with prices and your own installs.

What do solar ads cost, and do they pay?

They cost more per click than most trades because the job is worth a lot and everyone knows it. They pay when they land on a page with a calculator and a survey booking rather than a contact form, and they lose money quickly when they point at a homepage. We would rather start small onto a page built for it than large onto one that is not.

Do you only build Shopify sites?

No. Shopify is where most of our work sits because most of our clients sell products online, and a solar installer usually does not. We build on whatever fits the job; this site runs on Astro and Cloudflare.

Do you work with installers in the US as well as the UK?

Yes. We are London-based and the UK and US are both core markets for us. Solar demand and bids run higher in the US, so we plan the split rather than treat one market as an afterthought.

What does solar marketing actually cover in practice?

Seo for solar companies alongside the ads and the site, mostly. Solar company marketing and solar installer marketing are the same job to us, and solar panel marketing that leads on price tends to attract the slower, wrong buyer.
