Web design & search · Painting & decorating
Web, ads and search for painters and decorators.
A decorator is booked off a quote, not a checkout. The site, the ads and the search exist to turn a search into that quote request, and to show which one paid for it.
01 Why painters and decorators work with us
One team for the site, the ads and the search
A decorating firm does not want a web designer, an ads agency and an SEO supplier all blaming each other. We are one painting marketing agency doing all three: we build the site, run the Google and Meta ads and do the search work behind them, so the click you paid for lands on a page built to produce a quote request. Founder-led, 100+ builds across the UK and the US.
The quote request is the metric, not the visit
Nothing sells online here, so a session count tells you nothing. We instrument the enquiry form and the phone call and attribute each back to the search or the ad that produced it, so you can see which spend booked which job.
Domestic and commercial are two different searches
A homeowner redecorating a hallway and a contractor pricing an office repaint are not the same buyer, and they do not search the same way. Those are two jobs for the site and the ads, and we split the pages and the spend to match.
02 How a decorating quote gets won before you price it
Decorating is a crowded trade where a quote is easy to give and easy to lose, and much of the deciding is really about whether somebody wants you in their house for a fortnight. Nothing here is a lead you buy from us. It is a machine you own: finished rooms shown properly, commercial work given its own route, and a quote that arrives before the other two.
Finished rooms do the selling, and they have to look like theirs
Decorating is judged on rooms a visitor can imagine living in. Period features, awkward staircases, the kind of house they actually have. Generic before-and-after pairs convince nobody, because every decorator within thirty miles has them.
Commercial and trade work is a different sale entirely
Offices, lettings and site work are bought on scheduling, insurance and working out of hours, not on colour. If you want that side to grow it needs its own page, because a landlord with forty flats does not read the same sentence as a homeowner doing a lounge.
Search picks up the specific room and the specific problem
Exterior painting, wallpapering, a stairwell nobody can reach, plus a place. Those are winnable local terms with real intent, and they cost a fraction of competing broadly for a word the whole trade is bidding on.
Speed of quote decides more of this than price does
Three decorators get asked and the first back with a clear number often wins. A form capturing rooms, ceiling heights, condition and photographs lets you quote the same day, which is worth more than shaving the price.
Being easy to have around is the thing worth saying
The real anxiety is a fortnight of dust, a stranger with a key and whether the furniture gets covered. How you protect a room, how you leave it each evening and what happens to the mess is the part of this trade that nobody bothers to put in writing.
Commercial decorating is repeat work, and it sells on disruption not colour
A landlord, a school or a hotel buys decorating on how little the building has to stop, and buys it again every few years. Commercial decorating marketing sells scheduling, insurance and out-of-hours working, where painter and decorator marketing to a homeowner sells the finish and the tidiness. Decorator marketing that only shows front rooms never reaches the contracts.

Painting and decorating marketing questions, answered
What experience do you have with painters and decorators?
The work a decorating firm needs is the work we do: a site whose job is the quote request rather than a checkout, ads that have to pay for themselves, and search that keeps the right work coming in. What we do is the whole engine: Google Ads and Meta for the enquiries you need this month, SEO for the ones that keep arriving without a media budget behind them, and a funnel between the two that brings the cost per lead down and qualifies what reaches your team. It connects to the CRM you already run, so a lead is tracked rather than retyped, and it is built as a foundation you can scale on rather than something that breaks at three times the volume. Founder-led, 100+ builds across the UK and the US. Tell us how your quotes arrive today and we will show you where the site, the ads and the search move first.
Do you do ads as well as the website and SEO?
Yes, and for a decorating firm the three are one job. Splitting the site, the paid media and the search across three suppliers is how a quiet month turns into an argument about whose fault it is. Painter and decorator marketing works when the ad, the page and the follow-up are built by the same people, so we run them together.
Do you do lead generation, or do you sell leads?
We build the lead generation, we do not resell leads. MyBuilder and Rated People work for some decorators and they work by putting you in a queue, priced against whoever else replied. What we build sends the enquiry to you and to nobody else.
How is SEO for painters and decorators different from general SEO?
Mostly in what counts as a win. A national brand chases rankings; you need the enquiry from the twelve postcodes you will actually drive to, which changes the pages, the terms and where the ads point. Painter and decorator SEO is local search with a trade's vocabulary on top: the room, the problem and the place, rather than the industry word on its own. We also plan for both markets rather than one: painting contractor marketing is the American phrasing of the same job, SEO for painting contractors is how a firm over there searches for the supplier, and the US volume on both is several times the UK.
Is it worth it if we only work in one county?
Usually yes, and a tight patch makes the search work easier rather than harder. A decorator covering three towns competes with far fewer firms than one bidding nationally, so the pages and the ads can name the places you actually serve and stop paying for clicks from places you do not.
Should we chase commercial contracts as well as domestic?
If you can staff them, yes, and the site has to be built for both. A letting agent or a site manager wants your insurance, your capacity and your ability to work to a programme; a homeowner wants to know you will not wreck the carpet. Both can sit on one site as long as each has its own route and neither has to read the other's page.
Do before and after photos actually work?
They are the most persuasive thing you have, and almost nobody shoots them properly. The requirement is the same angle, the same light and the same room, because a dark phone photo next to a bright one reads as a trick. Half a dozen done well outperform fifty done casually.
Customers worry about mess and disruption. Should the site say something?
It should say it plainly, because it is the real objection and your competitors are ignoring it. Dust sheets, how you protect floors, whether people can stay in the house, how long a room takes, what happens to the furniture. Answering that on the page is worth more than another gallery.
Can you get us found for painter and decorator plus our town?
That is the realistic target. The trade plus place terms are winnable and they are the ones that produce work; the generic national terms are neither. A complete profile with real reviews usually moves first, and the website pages take months.
Are Google Ads worth it for decorating?
It depends on your average job. On single rooms the maths is tight once a click costs what it costs, and we would say so rather than take the budget. On full house repaints, new-build contracts or commercial work the numbers work, and the way to make them work is a landing page that names the job and gives a range rather than a homepage.
Do you only build Shopify sites?
No. Shopify is where most of our work sits because most of our clients sell products online, and a decorating firm usually does not. We build on whatever fits the job; this site runs on Astro and Cloudflare.
