Build & Migrate
Website Redesign
Rebuilt without losing what works.
(opens in a new tab) A redesign is not a new build with a shorter brief. You already have traffic, rankings, forms that work and pages people link to, and the job is to keep every one of those while fixing what is actually wrong. Most redesigns lose something on the way across, and it is almost never the part anybody was watching.

Read the case studiesWhat people are usually comparing when they look for website redesign services is one of three things: a re-skin of the site they have, a rebuild on the same platform, or a move to a different one, which is the job a web replatforming agency is hired for. We do all three and we will tell you which one your site needs, which is not always the one you asked for. Most of our work is ecommerce, so ecommerce website redesign services are what we sell most often, and the same developers handle sites that take enquiries rather than orders.

How we run a website redesign
Design is step three of five. The two before it decide whether the new site starts ahead or behind.
-
Measure What You Have
Search Console, analytics, Core Web Vitals field data, the link profile, and a crawl of every URL. This is the record the project gets judged against, and it has to exist before anything changes or the comparison is guesswork.
-
Decide What Moves
Which pages are rebuilt, which are re-skinned, which are merged and which are retired. Each one is a decision with a reason attached, and you see the list before design starts rather than discovering it at launch.
-
Design and Build
Design against the real content rather than placeholder text, built to the performance budget agreed in step one. Structure and templates first, because a redesign that looks right on the homepage and falls apart on a product page is the usual failure.
-
Map, Test, Launch
Redirects written and tested, forms submitted end to end on the new site, analytics and conversion tracking verified firing before the switch rather than after. Launch is the boring part when the first three steps were done properly.
-
Watch the Numbers
Rankings and Core Web Vitals checked against the step-one baseline for the weeks after launch, when a redirect problem still looks like a normal fluctuation. Most redesign damage is found late because nobody kept the before.
Redesign a site that takes enquiries
Where the site sells jobs rather than products, a redesign that breaks the route to an enquiry looks fine until the phone goes quiet.
Smart Surfacing Solutions
Redesign, tracking and the lead funnel
Website redesign services
A contractor’s site that could not say what it earned
Smart Surfacing Solutions lays tarmac and resin for roads, driveways and car parks. Nothing on the site adds to a cart. It sells jobs, and the site as it stood could not say whether anybody who arrived had picked up the phone.
We redesigned the site they already had rather than moving it: the platform was not the problem, what the site asked visitors to do was. Tracking went in behind it, so every enquiry traces back to the ad, the search or the page that produced it.
Natalie's Heating Service
Off Wix, email intact
Website redesign company
A move off Wix, planned around her inbox
Natalie is a Gas Safe heating engineer covering Bromley and the towns around it, on her own. She was on Wix, and her business email ran on the same DNS zone as the site, so getting the pages right and the mail records wrong would have stopped her receiving work.
Every record that had to survive the cutover was written down and checked against the zone first. The new site went live on 8 September 2026, and we run the search behind it.
Website redesign
What we protect on the way across
What we write down before design starts, so that what the old site earned arrives on the new one.
Before anything moves
Baseline first, design second
Before a single screen is drawn we record what the current site does: which pages take impressions, which bring enquiries, what the Core Web Vitals field data says, and where the links point. Without that, nobody can tell afterwards whether the redesign helped, and the honest answer is usually that nobody knows.
Keep what is working
Some pages on a tired site are earning their keep. Rewriting them because they sit inside the old design is how a redesign goes backwards. We separate the pages that need rebuilding from the ones that only need re-skinning, and we say which is which before the estimate.
On the way across
Redirects are the project
The single most common way a redesign loses traffic is a URL that quietly stops existing. Every old URL gets mapped to its closest new equivalent before launch, and the ones with no equivalent get a decision rather than a 404. This is unglamorous and it is the part that decides whether the new site starts ahead or behind.
After launch
Editable without us
A redesign that only the agency can change is a bill you pay twice. The new site is built so your team can edit pages, add sections and publish without a developer, and we show them how before we hand it over rather than sending a document nobody opens.
Redesign a store that sells
A store carries rankings, product URLs and a checkout people already trust. The new design has to arrive with all three.
Ecommerce website redesign
Our own store, rebuilt rather than lived with
Powerlete is our own sportswear brand, and the store every change is tested on before it reaches a client. It ran on a heavier, feature-rich theme with room to improve.
So we rebuilt it properly: for speed, for conversion and for functionality. Our own money is what lets us say plainly when something is not good enough, and rebuild it rather than live with it.
Ginny Litscher
New theme, same store
Ecommerce website redesign services
A new storefront in seven days, with nothing lost in the rush
Ginny Litscher hand-paints silk scarves, kimonos and wallpaper in Switzerland and sells them in eight markets. She needed a new site live before her SS27 show at London Fashion Week.
We replaced her old theme with a bespoke build on the same store, leaving the old one untouched until the switch so there was always a way back. Every existing URL was accounted for, and the new theme went live seven days after the first commit.
Website redesign cost
A redesign run on looks, or on a baseline
The website redesign cost question has an honest answer and it is not a number on a page: it tracks how many templates genuinely change and how much content has to move, not how many pages the site has. A hundred-page site built from four templates is a smaller job than a twelve-page site where every page is bespoke. We quote on scope after we have looked, and we would rather lose the enquiry than guess at it here.
| What happens | Run on looks | Run on a baseline |
|---|---|---|
| Before design | A moodboard | A recorded baseline of traffic, enquiries and speed |
| Existing pages | All rebuilt, because they sit in the old design | Rebuilt, re-skinned, merged or retired, each with a reason |
| Old URLs | Left to 404 and found later | Mapped and redirected before launch |
| Forms and tracking | Checked after launch | Tested end to end before the switch |
| Performance | A pass bolted on at the end | A budget agreed at the start |
| After launch | The project is closed | Rankings watched against the baseline for weeks |
Change platform, keep the search
Sometimes the platform is the problem. Then the redesign is a move, and the URLs are the project.
Bordeaux12
Off WooCommerce
Web replatforming agency
A catalogue of one-offs, moved without handing back the search
Bordeaux12 sells authenticated vintage Chanel, Dior and Givenchy, one piece at a time. The store ran on WooCommerce, so moving it meant carrying the catalogue, a nested category tree and every page Google already knew about.
Every URL was inventoried first and given a destination or a written decision to let it go. The catalogue was rebuilt for how Shopify works rather than copied across, and we built the new brand alongside it.

From start to finish, they were incredibly easy to work with. They understood the brief perfectly and delivered to a very high standard. Communication was excellent throughout, with quick and clear responses to any questions I had.

How we work with you
Re-skin the site you have
New design, same platform, same URLs. Right when the structure works and the look has fallen behind the business. The cheapest route, and the lowest risk to rankings.
Re-skinRebuild on the same platform
New templates, new structure, the platform kept. What Powerlete and Ginny Litscher had. The URL map matters here, because structure changes are where addresses move.
RebuildMove to a different platform
A new build somewhere else, with every old URL mapped across. What Bordeaux12 and Natalie had. The riskiest of the three, and worth it only when the platform is the constraint.
ReplatformWebsite rebuild agency
Why a redesign is riskier than a first build
A first build starts from nothing and can only go forwards. A redesign starts from a site that already has rankings, links, forms that deliver and pages people have bookmarked, and every one of those is something the project can lose. That asymmetry is the whole reason this is a separate page: the risk is not in the design, it is in what quietly fails to come across.
Worth a conversation
- The site cannot be edited without paying somebody
- Enquiries or sales have slipped and the site is the likeliest reason
- The platform itself has become the constraint
Probably not this, yet
- The site mostly works and needs looking after
- You have no site yet, and need a first build
If you are choosing a website redesign agency or a website rebuild agency, the question worth asking every one of them is what they measure before they start. A website redesign company that cannot show you a baseline cannot tell you afterwards whether the work helped, and that is the most common way a redesign gets called a success while traffic falls. And if it turns out your site mostly works and needs looking after rather than rebuilding, we will point you at a maintenance plan instead.

Partners
Tools we have already run on our own stores
The apps around a Shopify store decide as much as the theme does, and choosing between thousands of them is most of the work. We are a Shopify Plus Partner and we integrate the tools that sit around the platform. Every one of them runs on our own two stores before it reaches a client, so the recommendation you get comes from having paid for the thing and lived with it. When a brand already runs a stack that works, we integrate with it rather than rebuilding it to suit us.
How we use themStraight answers
How much does a website redesign cost?
It tracks how many templates genuinely change and how much content has to move, not how many pages the site has. A hundred-page site built from four templates is a smaller job than a twelve-page site where every page is bespoke. We quote on scope after we have looked, rather than guessing at a number here.
Will a redesign hurt our Google rankings?
It can, and the usual cause is a URL that quietly stops existing. We record a baseline before anything moves, map every old URL to its closest new equivalent, and watch rankings against that baseline for the weeks after launch, when a redirect problem still looks like a normal fluctuation.
Do you only redesign Shopify stores?
No. Most of our work is ecommerce on Shopify, and the same developers redesign sites that take enquiries rather than orders. Smart Surfacing Solutions is a contractor whose existing site we redesigned without moving it off its platform.
