Branding
Identity built to survive the page.
(opens in a new tab) Brand identity work usually happens with an agency, gets handed off, and then a second agency builds the site around whatever survived the handover. We do the identity work as part of the build itself: logo, colour, type and the system that holds them together, decided by the same team that has to make it work on a real page rather than a moodboard.
Stores we designed and built, where the brand had to hold up.
Certified Partner We make a brand’s identity against the store it has to sell from.

Our servicesBrand agency, or brand and build
Why we build identity against the real page, not a deck
Brand identity work usually happens with a specialist agency, gets handed off as a set of files, and a second agency then builds the site or store around whatever survived the handover. Decisions that looked right in a presentation, a colour that reads differently on a screen, a logo that breaks at favicon size, only surface once someone else is trying to implement them.
We do identity work as part of the same process that builds the site or store it has to live on: logo, colour, type and the system that holds them together, tested against a real product page rather than a static deck. This is project-scoped work for us rather than a large dedicated department, and we would rather say that plainly than oversell it.
- Identity built by the same team that builds the site, so it survives contact with a real page
- No separate branding agency handoff for your web team to reinterpret
- Scoped to what you actually need: a full identity system, or a focused fix to what exists
- Judged on whether it holds up on a real product page, not just a presentation deck
The run of it
How a branding project runs with us
-
Where the Brand Stands Today
An honest look at what exists, what is working, and what is actually holding the brand back, rather than an assumption that everything needs replacing.
-
Strategy and Direction
Positioning and the direction for the identity, agreed before any visual work starts, so the design has something real to be judged against.
-
Design Against Real Pages
Logo, colour and type developed and tested against your actual site or store templates, not a static presentation.
-
Guidelines and Handover
Documented clearly enough that your team, or whoever works with you next, can use it consistently without guessing.
A brand we made, and one we own
Bordeaux12
Migration, build and brand system
Ecommerce branding agency
A wordmark made for the store it sells from
Bordeaux12 sells authenticated vintage Chanel, Dior and Givenchy, and every piece is the only one. We moved the store off WooCommerce, built it on Horizon, and made the brand to go with it: the wordmark, its inverse and the favicon.
The mark was matched to the typeface the store already used, so the identity and the storefront were decided together, by one team, rather than reconciled after a handover.
Digital brand agency
A brand we own, so its mistakes cost us first
Powerlete is our own sportswear brand, built from launch and sold into around 25 markets. Every storefront decision we would recommend to you is tested there before it reaches a client.
That includes how the brand behaves on the page: whether the type still reads on a phone, and whether the colour holds on a button someone has to press. We pay for the answer before you do.
Brand identity agency
What our branding work includes
The identity
Brand strategy and positioning
Positioning and the direction for the identity, agreed before any visual work starts, so the design has something real to be judged against.
Logo design and identity system
The mark, and the system that holds colour, type and the mark together, drawn to survive favicon size.
Colour palette and typography
Chosen on a screen, where a colour can read differently from the swatch it was picked from.
Tested on the page
Built for the Page It Has to Live On
A logo and palette that look right in a presentation can fall apart on a real product grid, a checkout button or a mobile nav. We design identity work against the actual templates it has to survive, not a static mockup.
One Team, Start to Finish
The people making the brand decisions are the same people who build the site or store it has to work on, so a colour or type choice gets tested against a real page immediately rather than discovered to be a problem after handover.
Made to be used
Brand guidelines documentation
Documented clearly enough that your team, or whoever works with you next, can use it consistently without guessing.
Packaging and print collateral, where relevant
Where it matters, though our core strength is digital identity, applied to a real site or store.
Scoped Honestly
Not every brand needs a full identity system from zero. Where the existing brand mostly works, we would rather fix the specific thing that does not than sell a full rebuild you do not need.
The honest comparison
A separate branding agency, or identity built with the store?
A specialist agency is the right call for some briefs, and we will say when yours is one. Here is where the two differ.
| Question | A separate branding agency | Identity built with the store |
|---|---|---|
| Where it is judged | A presentation deck | A real product page and checkout |
| Who implements it | A second agency, working from the files | The team that designed it |
| When problems show | After the handover, in someone else’s build | While the design is still open |
| Small sizes | Often checked last | Tested at favicon size and in a mobile nav |
| Creative team | A dedicated department | Project-scoped, and we say so |
| Print and campaigns | Often the core of the offer | Where relevant, not our main strength |
Brands we built the store around
Nour Hammour
Build, CRO and ongoing support
E-commerce web design agency
A luxury storefront that has to feel the way the coat does
Nour Hammour makes leather and tailored outerwear in Paris. At that price the brand is judged on its site before the product arrives, so the storefront is the first thing a customer touches.
We built it with the photography given the room it needs, tested it for conversion, and stay on to look after it, so the finish holds in the months after launch rather than drifting.
Ginny Litscher
Bespoke build in seven days
Ecommerce design agency London
A designer’s own brand, kept and sharpened
Ginny Litscher hand-paints silk, kimonos and wallpaper in Switzerland. She came to us a week before her SS27 show at London Fashion Week, and the new store was live seven days after the first commit.
The brand stayed hers. We built a type system from the fonts and assets she already used, cream and ink with a deep green held in reserve, so the paintings are the only colour on the page that shouts.

Buying it
How we work with you
Identity with a build
The usual shape. Brand and store are decided together and tested on the real templates.
A focused fix
Where most of the brand works, we fix the part that does not rather than sell a rebuild.
A rebrand, site untouched
Possible, and we will flag it if the current site cannot carry the new identity well.
Identity on its own
Scoped case by case. Tell us early if the brief is mainly print, packaging or campaigns.
Is this the right thing to buy from us?
This suits a brand that needs identity work alongside a build, or a focused fix to what already exists, more than it suits a brand wanting a large-scale rebrand with a dedicated creative team. If your brief is mainly print, packaging or a full campaign system, tell us early, because that is not where our strength sits and we would rather scope it honestly than take work we are not the best fit for.
Worth a conversation
- A store build is coming and the brand has to be ready for it
- The identity looks right in a deck and wrong on the site
- The logo breaks at favicon size or in a mobile nav
- You want one team answerable for the brand and the build
Probably not this, yet
- A large-scale rebrand with a dedicated creative team
- A brief that is mainly print, packaging or a campaign system
- The brand works, and it is the store that needs fixing

Questions
Straight answers
Is branding a dedicated service, or part of a bigger project?
Both, depending on what you need. We take on identity work as part of a site or store build, and on its own where the brand needs fixing without a full rebuild. It is not a large, separate department here, so ask us directly about scope and timeline for what you have in mind.
Do you only do branding alongside a website or store build?
No, but it is where we do it most often, because that is the context we can test the identity against. Standalone branding work is scoped case by case.
What is included in a brand identity project?
Typically strategy and positioning, logo and identity system, colour and typography, and documented guidelines. Exact scope depends on whether you need a full system from zero or a focused fix to what exists.
Can you rebrand us without touching our website?
Yes, though we would flag if the current site cannot actually support the new identity well, since a brand that does not survive its own homepage has not really been finished.
Do you handle packaging or print, not just digital?
Where relevant, yes, though our core strength is digital identity, applied to a real site or store. For a print-heavy brief we would be upfront about where that is not our main strength.
Do you cover ecommerce branding, or just general brand identity work?
Both, and for an ecommerce brand it usually happens alongside the store build rather than as a separate engagement. Ecommerce content agency, digital branding company, digital brand agency, ecommerce branding agency, ecommerce web design agency London, e-commerce web design agency, best content agency ecommerce and ecommerce design agency London all describe some part of that same combined work; ask us which parts you actually need rather than assuming it is a package.
Send us the brand, and where it breaks
A link to the site and a line on what is not working is plenty. We will come back with what we would change first, and whether it needs a rebrand at all.
