What your stack really costs.
(opens in a new tab) A full audit of the stack behind your store or your lead generation. Every app, every integration, every tracking pixel. What is slowing you down, what you are paying for twice, and what is quietly broken.

Certified Partner The case for it
Why a Shopify stack gets expensive without anyone deciding it should
Nobody sets out to run a stack this size. A review app goes in for a launch, a pop-up for a sale, a second analytics tag because the first one disagreed with the ad platform. Each was a sensible call on the day. Together they are a monthly bill nobody has totalled, and code every page loads before a customer can buy.
An audit is the one time somebody reads the whole stack at once: every app, integration and tracking pixel, what each costs in fees and in speed, and whether the numbers they report agree.
We audit against the same standards we build to. You get the findings and the priority order whether or not we do the work.
The run of it
How we audit every app, integration and tracking pixel
-
Access and scope
Read-only access to the store, analytics and ad accounts. We agree what is in scope, and what is explicitly not, before anything starts.
-
The audit
We work through the stack systematically and test rather than assume. Every finding is evidenced with what we actually saw.
-
The report
Ranked by impact against effort, in plain English. Each finding says what it is costing you and what fixing it involves.
-
The walkthrough
We take you through it properly and answer the awkward questions. You leave with a plan any competent team could pick up.
Apps and speed
Ecommerce tech stack audit
We audit against a stack we pay for ourselves
Powerlete is our own sportswear brand and Fittr Nutrition our supplements brand. Every tool we recommend runs on those two stores first, on our own money, before it reaches a client.
So when an audit says an app is not earning its fee, it is the same call we make on our own invoices. We carry the same page weight, the same monthly bills and the same tags as the brands we audit.
Knack Snacks
UK and US markets, subscriptions
Shopify tech stack audit
Three apps, each doing one job
Knack Snacks sell high-protein snacks in the UK and the US. We built their store around three apps: Loop for subscriptions, Judge.me for reviews and Smile.io for loyalty, each built into the theme rather than left to render in the frame it ships with.
That is the shape an audit steers a stack towards: one app per job, no two paying for the same thing, and each one fitted to the store rather than bolted on.
Scope
What a tech stack audit covers
What you pay for
App and licence review
Every app you pay for, what it actually does, what it duplicates, and what it costs you in page weight. Most stacks are paying for at least one thing twice and carrying at least one app nobody has opened in a year.
Performance and Core Web Vitals
Measured on real pages, mobile first. We show which scripts cost what, so the trade-off between a tool and its speed penalty is yours to make with the numbers in front of you.
What your numbers say
Tracking and attribution
Whether your pixels, server-side events and analytics actually agree with each other. When they do not, every decision downstream is being made on numbers that are wrong, and usually wrong in the same direction.
Conversion path review
Where people drop out, on which device, and what is in the way. For lead generation that means the form and what happens after it, not only the checkout.
What sits underneath
SEO and technical health
Indexation, site structure, redirects, schema. The unglamorous layer that quietly caps how much traffic the rest of the work can ever earn.
AI and automation opportunities
Where the manual work sits in your operation and what could reasonably be automated. Feeds straight into implementation if you want it, and stands alone if you do not.
The honest comparison
A free tool’s report, or an audit somebody read?
A speed test or a tag checker is quick, free and worth running. Here is where it stops and an audit starts.
| Question | A tool’s report | A tech stack audit |
|---|---|---|
| What it sees | One layer: speed, or tags, or search | Apps, integrations, tracking and the conversion path together |
| What each app costs | Scripts it can measure, never the invoice | Every app listed, costed and justified |
| Duplicates | Two apps doing one job both look healthy | Found, because we read what each app actually does |
| Tracking | Whether a tag fires | Whether the pixels, server-side events and analytics agree |
| Time and cost | Instant, and often free | Takes longer, and carries a fee |
| What you get | A list of issues | A plan ranked by impact against effort, in plain English |
Data and integrations
Tech stack audit
Spend that grew as the tracking got better
Bessette sell curated luxury fashion direct online. Alongside conversion work and paid media on Meta and Google, we built a tracking setup to find the quick wins already sitting in the business, and scaled spend as the tracking underneath it improved.
The same engagement moved the domain, Google Workspace and the store together, verified Klaviyo across every sending platform, and set up product feeds for Merchant Center and Facebook. Each of those is a layer of the stack an audit reads.
Integrations and lead flow
One form, four systems, one decision
Black Sand is a B2B distributor selling drinks and snacks by the container. A qualifying form on each brand and market page fans out four ways: to WhatsApp where their sales team works, to the CRM, to the sales inbox, and into a Shopify account waiting on approval.
The tag applied at approval is the same tag that unlocks the buyer’s prices. Joins like that are where a stack quietly breaks, and they are what the integration half of an audit tests.

Buying it
How we work with you
A standalone audit
The report and the walkthrough, and nothing after unless you ask. You get the findings and the priority order whether or not we do the work.
Audit, then the fixes
We work down the ranked list with you, starting with whatever costs you most for the least effort to put right.
Before a rebuild or a move
Run before a new build or a migration, so the apps and integrations that make the trip are the ones worth keeping.
Inside a retainer
Part of an ongoing growth partnership, repeated as the stack changes rather than read once and filed.
Is this the right thing to buy from us?
Worth a conversation
The app bill has crept up and nobody can say what half of it does. The store has slowed down without anyone touching the theme. Or the ad platforms and your analytics disagree about what sold last month.
Probably not this, yet
A store you are about to replace outright. Audit the plan for the new one instead, so the old stack is not carried across by habit.
And if the question is UX, conversion and growth rather than the tools underneath, that is our Shopify audit and strategy.

Partners
Tools we have already run on our own stores
The apps around a Shopify store decide as much as the theme does, and choosing between thousands of them is most of the work. We are a Shopify Plus Partner and we integrate the tools that sit around the platform. Every one of them runs on our own two stores before it reaches a client, so the recommendation you get comes from having paid for the thing and lived with it. When a brand already runs a stack that works, we integrate with it rather than rebuilding it to suit us.
How we use themQuestions
Straight answers
What do you need from us to start?
Read-only access to the store, your analytics and your ad accounts. We agree what is in scope, and what is explicitly not, before anything starts.
Do we have to hire you to fix what you find?
No. You get the findings and the priority order whether or not we do the work, written so any competent team could pick the plan up.
Will you tell us to remove apps?
Only the ones not earning their fee. Every app is listed with what it does, what it duplicates and what it costs in page weight. The trade-off on each is yours to make, with the numbers in front of you.
Why would our tracking be wrong?
Usually because the pixels, server-side events and analytics were set up at different times by different people. When they disagree, every decision downstream is made on numbers that are wrong, and usually wrong in the same direction.
Does it work for a site that is not a Shopify store?
Yes. It works for Shopify stores and lead generation sites alike. On a lead generation site the conversion path is the form and what happens after it, not the checkout.
How is this different from your Shopify store audit?
That audit looks at the store as customers meet it: UX, conversion, performance and growth. This one looks at what runs underneath it: every app, integration and tracking pixel. If you are not sure which you need, we will say on the first call.
Send us the store and what it runs on
A rough list of apps and what they cost each month is plenty. We will come back with where we would start, and whether an audit is the right thing to buy.
