Shopify agency · Nottingham Commerce, Crafted.
Elms is a UK Shopify Plus agency for brands across Nottingham and the East Midlands, run by one senior team with no office in the city. Seniority and availability decide how a Shopify project goes, and a local postcode guarantees neither, so we state our position up front.

Both of our own brands, Powerlete in activewear and Fittr Nutrition in supplements, sit on Shopify Plus and are run by us end to end, from the storefront to paid media and email. When we recommend an app, an offer or a product page change, it has already earned its place on our own margin.

Shopify agency Nottingham
Shopify in Nottingham, built around fulfilment and stock accuracy.
The East Midlands sits in the middle of the country’s distribution network, and a lot of brands here either run their own warehouse or sit close to the 3PL that does. That pushes fulfilment, stock accuracy and shipping logic further up the build than it would be for a brand that outsources all of it and never looks again.
One senior UK team designs, builds and markets these stores, and the same people handle the warehouse or 3PL connection, the storefront, the search work and the ad accounts. None of it goes to a subcontractor.
We built Cream Cornwall's store and moved it off its old theme; the brand, which also sells through three shops, has used us for consultancy ever since.
Shopify support and maintenance
Upkeep from the team that wired your store to the warehouse.
A monthly plan for a live store and the integrations around it: app and theme updates tested before they touch checkout, stock sync and shipping rules watched, and a senior developer on the phone when an integration fails.
We run Fittr Nutrition on this exact plan ourselves, so we know what a month of it is worth.
You get a short written summary every month: what changed, and what we would look at next.
Shopify SEO
Search that sends shoppers to products you can actually dispatch.
Audits, keyword research, content and site architecture for Shopify and Shopify Plus catalogues where out-of-stock pages, variants and collections need careful handling. Answers from ChatGPT and other AI assistants count too, so we structure product and collection data for them as well as for Google.
Our search clients include Waldo, the Swiss dive watch brand, which also has us on its paid media.
Content and internal links are written by the same developers who build the theme, so fixes go live in the code instead of sitting in a report.
Shopify developers Nottingham
Code that keeps the store and the stockroom in step.
We write Liquid and JavaScript directly instead of layering page builders. If you need a bespoke theme we build one; if your current theme is sound we extend it properly, and we tell you which case you are in.
Most of the hard work here sits behind the storefront: bespoke private apps for jobs the App Store cannot do, and links into the WMS, 3PL, ERP and CRM that already run the business, with one system clearly in charge of stock.
Anything custom is written to outlast theme updates, and its author stays on the hook for it.
Shopify web design
Design that starts from what the warehouse can promise.
When a brand controls its own fulfilment, the store and the warehouse have to agree about stock, and most of the awkward bugs in ecommerce live in that gap. Getting the integration right is worth more than anything on the front end.
Each project opens with your analytics, a look at competing stores and a map of where buyers abandon. Wireframes agree each page's job before anything is styled, and stock status, delivery cut-offs and dispatch dates are designed in where a shopper reads them before paying.
Pages are drawn to a speed budget agreed at the start, so availability and delivery detail never costs a slow load on a phone.
Shopify migration
Replatforming to Shopify with stock, orders and rankings intact.
Our migrations bring brands across from Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Salesforce and other platforms, onto Shopify or Shopify Plus. For a brand with its own warehouse the delicate part is stock: locations, SKUs and the integration that feeds them all have to line up on launch day.
Search is planned in from day one: each old URL is mapped to its new home before the switch, so the rankings the old site earned carry across.
Bessette, a luxury fashion label, moved three things with us: the store, the domain and the company's Google Workspace email.
Ecommerce agency Nottingham
Shopify Plus, recommended when the numbers call for it.
Our own two brands run on Shopify Plus, so we have paid for B2B, Markets, Shopify Functions and checkout extensibility before advising anyone on them.
Black Sand is the clearest B2B case: we built it a trade store in which every approved buyer gets a catalogue and price list of their own. For a brand selling to stockists and direct at once, that is where Plus starts to pay.
For plenty of East Midlands brands standard Shopify still fits, and we will tell you that. The builders can then stay on monthly across search, paid media, email and CRO.
Klaviyo email and SMS
Retention that knows what is back on the shelf.
Welcome, browse abandonment and cart flows, back-in-stock alerts tied to real stock levels, and segments that separate first-time buyers from regulars. SMS goes out only when a message is worth the interruption.
Every new flow runs first on Powerlete, our activewear business, and only then goes to a client. Knack Snacks, a food brand we built subscription-first, lets shoppers choose their delivery frequency on the product page.
We audit live flows on a fixed schedule, since an old flow keeps sending whether or not anyone still reads it.
Selling overseas
Selling abroad from an East Midlands warehouse.
Before any code, an overseas launch needs answers: whether Markets on one store is enough or separate stores earn their keep, how currency and pricing work, what gets translated, and which lines can travel at all. Duties and delivery times sit on that list too.
We set currency, local prices, duties and payment options per market, so a shopper abroad sees a store that feels built for them. Black Sand sells worldwide today after starting with no storefront at all.
If a second storefront for a region is justified, Shopify Plus lets it sit under the same organisation as the first.
WUKA
Client · build, conversion testing and ongoing support
Shopify CRO
Testing the promises the warehouse has to keep.
Our CRO starts with research: your category, your competitors, session recordings, heatmaps and order data, turned into a list of tests ranked by the revenue each could move. For a fulfilment-led brand we start with delivery messaging and stock display, since a promise the warehouse cannot keep turns into a refund later.
After building WUKA's store we ran its conversion testing, on a product people need explained before they buy. Every test process we sell has run on our own brands first.
How a project runs
Five stages, and nobody new joins halfway.
Design and development sit with one team, so no budget or detail is lost in a handoff between studios. Whoever scopes the work ships it.
Scope. We read the store, its numbers and the way orders get fulfilled today, then agree what the next stage has to achieve before design starts.
Design. Templates are drawn to a speed budget, with stock status and delivery promises placed where buyers read them.
Build. The same developers build it and connect it to your warehouse, 3PL, ERP and CRM, with one system named as the owner of stock.
Launch. Redirects, structured data and stock sync are tested on a staging theme before anything goes live.
Grow. Once live, the build team keeps going on testing, paid media, email and support.
Ways to work with us
Three ways in: a build, a retainer or senior advice.
Pick the arrangement that fits today and change it later as the business grows. Whichever you choose, the people you speak to are the people doing the work.
Project build. A defined piece of work with a fixed launch: a new Shopify store, or a replatform off Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or Salesforce. Timelines run from seven days, for one bespoke build we delivered for a fashion show, to eight to sixteen weeks for larger Shopify Plus projects, worked in two-week stages.
Growth retainer. One team on a monthly plan covering design, development, CRO, paid media and email. Poppy Elder and Nour Hammour are both on this arrangement.
Consultancy partner. You keep building in-house, and we advise on platform, channels and the next market, joining in where it helps. Cream Cornwall has used us like this since we finished its build.
No account manager sits between you and the work. The team that connects your store to the warehouse goes on to run its search, ads and retention, and every tactic has been tried on our own brands first.
Our storyPartners
Apps that earned their place on our own stores.
Much of a good Shopify setup comes down to app choice. Klaviyo handles our email and SMS, Gorgias customer service, Loop subscriptions and returns, Junip reviews, Upstack Data attribution and DataFeedWatch product feeds. None of them reaches a client until it has run on our own stores and we have paid for it ourselves. Where your existing stack already works, we build around it.
How we use themQuestions Nottingham brands ask us
Do you have an office in Nottingham?
- No. We have one office, and it is not in Nottingham. We work with East Midlands brands remotely and come to you where a project genuinely benefits from being in the room. Renting a virtual address in the city would not change who builds your store, and we would rather be straight with you about that.
Can you integrate Shopify with our warehouse or 3PL?
- Yes, and in this part of the country it is one of the first things brands ask about. Shopify connects to most major 3PLs and WMS platforms, and where it does not there is an API. The questions worth settling early are which system owns stock levels and what happens when the two disagree, because that decision causes more oversells than any bug does.
We hold our own stock across more than one location. Does Shopify handle that?
- Yes. Shopify supports multiple locations natively, with stock tracked per location and rules for which one fulfils an order. It is worth configuring deliberately rather than accepting the defaults, because the default routing is rarely the cheapest one for your shipping profile.
Is Elms a fit for a smaller Nottingham brand?
- Yes. We work with brands at every stage, and the audit and consultancy services exist specifically for businesses that want senior input without committing to a full build or a retainer.
Do you build on Shopify Plus for Nottingham brands?
- Yes, and in the East Midlands the deciding factor is fulfilment more than the storefront. Brands running their own warehouse or sitting close to a 3PL hit API limits, stock-sync lag and shipping logic that standard Shopify will not bend far enough to fit. Plus raises those ceilings. If your fulfilment already works, the upgrade will not make it work better and we will not pretend otherwise.
Is Elms an ecommerce agency or a Shopify specialist?
- Both. We work on one platform in depth, which is the difference from a general ecommerce agency Nottingham firms have hired before: the senior people who build the store also handle the warehouse and 3PL integration and run the paid ads afterwards, with no rotating team to be handed to later.
Do you run paid ads and retention for East Midlands brands, or only the build?
- Both, and fulfilment is the reason they are connected here. PPC Nottingham spend pushed into a store whose stock data is wrong is the fastest way to buy refunds, so PPC management Nottingham work starts with the feed and the stock logic rather than the bidding. Nottingham PPC campaigns for a warehouse-led brand live or die on availability accuracy. Conversion rate optimisation Nottingham and CRO agency Nottingham work follows the same thread: delivery promises that the warehouse can actually keep convert better than optimistic ones. Email marketing Nottingham and email marketing agency Nottingham briefs here lean heavily on back-in-stock and restock flows for the same reason. Shopify Nottingham enquiries that start with ads or email still get a fulfilment question from us on the first call. The Shopify developers Nottingham brands talk to about fulfilment logic also build the store, so nothing is handed off.
How long does a Shopify build take?
- It depends on scope, and you get a date before work starts. The fastest bespoke build we have shipped took seven days, for a fashion show. A larger Shopify Plus build takes eight to sixteen weeks, shipped to a staging theme in two-week stages, so you see the store working long before launch. Warehouse and 3PL integrations are built inside that timeline, not bolted on after it.
We sell to stockists as well as direct. Can one Shopify store handle both?
- Yes. Shopify Plus has B2B tools that let trade and retail customers buy from one store. We built that for Black Sand: a trade store in which every approved buyer is shown their own catalogue and prices. For a brand holding its own stock, one pool of inventory serving both channels removes a whole class of stock errors.
Can you move us to Shopify from Magento or WooCommerce without breaking our stock feeds?
- Yes. We migrate from Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and Salesforce, and for a brand with its own warehouse we map stock locations, SKUs and the WMS or 3PL connection before a single product moves. Every old URL gets a redirect before launch, so search traffic follows the store. The integration is tested on a staging theme before the switch.
Do you set up subscriptions for brands that pick and pack their own orders?
- Yes. Repeat orders are easier to plan stock around, which suits a brand running its own warehouse. Knack Snacks, a food brand, was built subscription-first, with shoppers choosing their delivery frequency on the product page. For subscriptions and returns we work with Loop, which we run on our own stores first.
How quickly will we hear back, and who from?
- Within 24 hours of a new enquiry, from the senior people who would do the work. The first call is 20 minutes and covers your store, your fulfilment set-up and what you want the next stage to deliver.
