Run & Advise

A live store kept fast and working, and senior advice for decisions bigger than a support ticket, from audits to a standing growth partnership.

Shopify agency Canada

A full Shopify team for Canadian brands, under one roof.

We design, build and market Shopify stores for Canadian brands whose online store is the business, not a side channel. Designers, developers, search, paid media, email and conversion specialists sit in one team, so work never gets passed to a subcontractor halfway through.

Every person on a project has shipped and run ecommerce stores, and the brief is judged in revenue rather than pages delivered. Two of the stores we run are our own, on the same stack we would build yours on.

Cream Cornwall first hired us for a build and a migration, and kept us on for consultancy afterward.

Shopify support and maintenance

A support plan run by the people who built the store.

Monthly support for stores that have outgrown a ticket queue: theme and app updates tested before they touch checkout, fixes that stay fixed, and a senior developer on hand when something breaks. Speed sits with the same team, so a slow product page and a broken discount code reach someone who already has the context.

Fittr Nutrition, one of our own brands, runs on the plan we sell, which is the most honest test we have of whether it is worth the money.

Each month closes with a written note of what changed, what was fixed and what we would tackle next.

Shopify SEO

Search visibility in Google and in AI answers.

Technical audits, keyword research, content and the site-structure changes that actually move rankings, on Shopify and Shopify Plus. Alongside it, we optimize for the AI assistants shoppers now ask before they search, so your products are the answer in both.

Black Sand launched with no storefront at all and now sells worldwide, with organic search among the channels that got it there. Waldo, a Swiss dive watch brand, runs search and paid media with us in a category where heritage names own page one.

The team that builds the store also writes the content and sets the internal links, so recommendations land in the theme instead of in a slide deck.

Shopify experts Canada

Shopify development, from theme code to custom apps.

Our developers write Liquid, JavaScript and theme architecture by hand rather than stacking page builders. If your brand needs a custom theme we build one; if the theme you have is sound, we extend it and say so.

Beyond the storefront: private apps for workflows no public app covers, headless front ends where they genuinely earn their complexity, and integrations with the ERP, 3PL and CRM you already rely on. Performance and technical SEO are part of every build, not an add-on.

Custom code is written to survive theme updates, and it is maintained by the developer who wrote it.

Shopify web design

Store design that starts with how your customers buy.

Design begins with evidence: your analytics, your competitors and the points where shoppers drop out. Wireframes decide what each page must do before anything is styled, and your brand, photography and voice go onto a structure already built to convert.

Designers and developers work together from the first sketch, so nothing gets lost between an approved mockup and the live store. Every layout is checked with your real products rather than stock images.

Each template is drawn to a performance budget agreed before design starts, so the store that looks right also loads quickly on a phone.

Shopify migration

Replatforming to Shopify with your rankings intact.

We move brands onto Shopify and Shopify Plus from Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Salesforce, Wix and Squarespace. The case for moving comes down to three things: lower running costs, hosting and PCI compliance off your plate, and new features that are a setting rather than a project.

The platform is rarely the risk. The move is: a redirect map written in launch week, product URLs that changed without anyone noticing. We plan search into a migration from the first day, along with everything else that has to move: Bessette brought its store, its domain and its Google Workspace email across with us.

Every old URL is mapped to a new destination before launch, and we keep the redirect map ourselves afterward.

Ecommerce agency Canada

A Shopify Plus partner that stays after launch day.

Our own stores run on Shopify Plus, so checkout extensibility, Shopify Functions, Markets and B2B are features we have paid to use before recommending them to anyone.

Most of our work carries on as a retainer after launch, because that is where the growth comes from. One team covers build, search, paid, email and CRO against a shared roadmap, with a senior contact who knows your store.

If your store does not need Plus yet, we will tell you. Plenty of strong brands run on the standard plan.

Klaviyo email and SMS

Retention that earns the second and third order.

Welcome, browse and abandoned-cart flows that run on their own, segments that treat a first-time buyer differently from a regular, and campaigns planned around what people actually bought. SMS only where a message deserves the interruption.

We build in Klaviyo and try new flows on Powerlete, our own activewear brand, before a client pays for them. Repeat revenue is the cheapest a store can earn, and the easiest to leave on the table.

Flows are reviewed on a schedule, because a flow nobody has opened in a year still sends.

Cross-border selling

Selling across the border without running a second business.

For most Canadian brands the first new market is across the border, and it starts with decisions rather than code: one store with Markets or two, how prices and currency behave, how duties are shown at checkout, and which products should be listed at all. Get those right and Shopify carries most of the load.

We set up Markets, local pricing, duties and payment methods so the store feels native wherever it sells, and a French-language storefront where you sell into Quebec. Black Sand went from no storefront to selling worldwide, built for international buyers from the start.

Where a separate storefront genuinely pays for itself, Shopify Plus expansion stores keep it inside the same organization.

Shopify CRO

Conversion testing built on your own data.

We review your category and competitors, watch session recordings and heatmaps, and read your order data, then rank test ideas by the revenue they could move rather than how quickly they can be built. No test runs without a hypothesis.

WUKA came to us for a store build and stayed for a run of conversion testing on a product that needs explaining before anyone buys. The same process runs on our own brands first, so we can tell you what actually worked.

How a project runs

Five stages, one team from start to finish.

Nothing is handed from a design studio to a separate build shop, which is where most cost and compromise creeps in. The people who scope your project are the people who deliver it.

Scope. We start from your current store and the numbers it produces, and agree what the next stage must achieve before any design begins.

Design. Templates are drawn to a performance budget set at the outset, around the way your customers move through the store.

Build. The developers who scoped it build it, connected to your ERP, 3PL and CRM, with GST, HST, PST or QST set up for every province you sell into.

Launch. Redirects, structured data and search are dealt with before the switch, so your rankings come with you.

Grow. Conversion testing, paid media, email and support carry on with the same team after launch.

Ways to work with us

A project, a retainer or senior advice on call.

Most brands begin with one of three arrangements and switch between them as the store grows. There is no account manager in the middle of any of them.

Project build. Fixed scope, fixed launch date: a new Shopify store, or a migration from Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or Salesforce, designed, built and launched.

Growth retainer. A standing team for design, development, CRO, paid and email on a monthly plan shaped by your roadmap. Knack Snacks, Poppy Elder and Nour Hammour work with us this way.

Consultancy partner. Your team builds; we advise on the platform, the channels and the next market, and step in where we are useful. Cream Cornwall and Bessette work with us this way.

Colleagues working together around a table in a studio

Founder-led · One team · Own brands

The same senior people, launch to growth.

You deal directly with the people doing the work, never an account manager relaying messages. The team that builds your store stays on for its search, ads and retention after launch, using tactics already tested on our own brands.

Our story

Partners

Apps tested on our own stores before yours.

Picking the right apps is much of the work on Shopify. We integrate the tools around the platform, including Klaviyo for email and SMS, Gorgias for customer service, Loop for subscriptions and returns, Junip for reviews, Upstack Data for attribution and DataFeedWatch for product feeds. Each one runs on our own stores first, so our recommendations come from paying for them, not from referral fees. If your current stack works, we connect to it instead of replacing it.

How we use them

Questions Canadian brands ask us

Can you build a store for a Canadian brand?

Yes. The platform, the checkout and the build process are the same; what changes is provincial tax, cross-border shipping and a French-language storefront where you sell into Quebec, and those are set up as part of the build. We have built and grown more than a hundred Shopify stores since 2018, and we run two of our own.

How quickly will we hear back?

Messages sent in the morning, Eastern time, are answered the same day, and every new inquiry gets a reply within 24 hours. On Pacific time our working day overlaps the start of yours, so anything that lands later is picked up first thing and waiting for you.

Will you handle GST, HST and provincial sales tax?

Yes, using Shopify's own tax settings rather than a separate app. Federal GST combines with HST, PST or QST depending on where each customer is, and the store is set up to charge and report that correctly by province. Whether and where you register is a question for your accountant.

Can the store run in English and French?

Yes. Shopify Markets supports a translated French storefront on its own URLs, so shoppers in Quebec can browse and check out in French. We set up the translation workflow so new products never go live in one language only.

What about currency and invoicing?

Agreed before any work starts, so the first invoice holds no surprises. We work with clients in several countries as standard, and we would rather settle the details on a call than print a promise here.

Can one team handle the build and the marketing?

Yes, and it works better that way. The landing page and the ad that points at it get planned together, and nobody has to be briefed twice. If a specialist would serve you better on one piece, we will say so.

Will you take over a store another agency built?

Regularly. The first month is a handover and a performance baseline, and every month after that moves faster for it.

Do we need to be on Shopify Plus?

No. We build on every Shopify plan, and we will tell you when Plus is not yet worth the fee.

How long does a Shopify build take?

That depends on the catalogue and the integrations. We have shipped a bespoke build in seven days to meet a fashion show, and larger Shopify Plus builds usually take eight to sixteen weeks, delivered in two-week stages on a staging theme you can watch progress.

Can our in-house developer stay involved?

Yes. Some clients keep their own developers and bring us in for strategy, design or the parts their team does not cover. We work alongside them rather than replacing them.

What happens after launch?

The team that built the store stays with it. Support, testing, paid media and email continue on a retainer, so you keep the people who know your store.

Can you speed up a slow Shopify store?

Yes. Most slowdowns are apps still loading script on every page long after anyone stopped using them. We audit what loads, remove what is dead, defer what must stay, and measure the result against the Core Web Vitals field data Google uses.

Do you build B2B and wholesale stores?

Yes. We build trade stores where each approved buyer sees their own catalogue and pricing, as we did for Black Sand, and native B2B on Shopify Plus where the volume justifies it.

Can you set up subscriptions?

Yes. Knack Snacks was built subscription-first, with the delivery frequency chosen on the product page rather than bolted onto checkout.

How do you report results?

Against revenue and contribution margin, not clicks and impressions, with a written monthly review of what changed and what we would do next.

Do you work with businesses outside ecommerce?

Yes. For businesses that sell a service we build the lead generation around it: the site, the tracking, the paid media and the funnel.
