Roofing SEO
Published
Roofing is the most weather-driven trade there is. Demand does not build steadily, it arrives in three-day spikes after a storm, and the roofers who win those days did the work months earlier.
That single fact should shape the whole plan. Most trades can start marketing when they need work. A roofer who starts when the phone goes quiet is starting at exactly the wrong moment, and one who starts the morning after a storm has already lost that week to whoever was ranking beforehand.
Demand arrives in spikes, so the work has to be done early
A serious storm produces a burst of urgent, local, high intent searching. Nobody ranks a new page inside that window, so the only way to be there is to have been there already. That argues for building and indexing your emergency and storm damage pages in the quiet months, and for treating a quiet spring as preparation rather than a problem.
You cannot rank for a storm during the storm. The work that captures November is done in June.
The trust problem is the whole conversion story
Roofing has a reputation problem it did not entirely earn, and every customer arrives carrying it. They are not primarily comparing your price, they are screening for the risk of being taken advantage of by somebody working somewhere they cannot see.
That changes what belongs on the page. A guarantee with a stated length, in writing. Whether it is insurance backed. Reviews with real names attached to real jobs. Photographs of finished roofs on ordinary houses rather than architectural showpieces. Say who will actually be on the roof, and what happens if it rains halfway through.
Repairs and re-roofs are different products
A repair is frequent, urgent, low value and decided in minutes, usually from the map pack on a phone. A full re-roof is rare, expensive, considered over weeks and decided partly by the website. Give them separate pages and stop trying to make one page do both, because the tone that reassures a re-roof customer reads as slow to somebody with water coming through a ceiling.
Insurance work is the page nobody writes
After storm damage most homeowners do not know the order of operations: whether to ring the insurer or a roofer first, whether a survey is chargeable, what evidence a claim needs, how long it takes. That is a genuinely useful page and it is almost absent from the trade, which makes it both winnable and worth winning, because the reader is at the start of a high value job.
How local this actually is
More local than most trades, because customers strongly prefer somebody who can be back next week if something is wrong. That makes the Google Business Profile and review volume the dominant factors for repair work, and it makes honest area coverage more valuable than a wide claim. Listing thirty towns you would rather not drive to costs you credibility on the ones you actually want.
What we would build first
The profile and reviews, because they decide the repairs. Then the re-roof page, properly, with guarantees and finished work. Then storm damage and insurance, built in the quiet season so they are ranking when the weather turns. The general search fundamentals are in SEO for tradesmen and are not repeated here.
