Klaviyo pricing: what it actually costs

Published

Search this and every result gives you a different number past the free tier. That is not the guides being careless, it is Klaviyo not publishing one. Here is what is actually true, what is genuinely unknowable from outside Klaviyo's own calculator, and the one figure we checked well enough to state as fact.

The free plan, in full

Klaviyo's free plan covers up to 250 active profiles, 500 email sends a month, and $5 of mobile messaging credit, plus 10,000 Composer credits and basic reporting. Email support runs for the first 60 days, after which you are on the Help Centre and community resources. Read from klaviyo.com/uk/pricing on 14 August 2026: the page is UK-localised in language but not in currency, and quotes USD throughout.

How pricing actually scales

Above 250 active profiles, Klaviyo charges by profile-count tier rather than a flat subscription. Email and Email+SMS are two separate plan tracks, priced against the same profile count but not at the same rate, and SMS sends beyond the free allowance run on their own credit system layered on top. There is no discount for paying annually and no public coupon structure: the price is entirely a function of your active profile count and which plan track you pick.

The one number we will state as fact

Just above the free tier, the Email plan starts at roughly $20 a month. That figure is consistent across Klaviyo's own free-plan boundary and two independent third-party pricing guides checked on 14 August 2026, so it is the one number on this page we are confident putting in writing. It is a starting point, not a ceiling: it holds only in the tier immediately above 250 profiles, and it moves the moment your list grows past it.

Why this page has no pricing table

Because we checked, and the numbers do not agree. Three independent 2026 pricing guides were cross-referenced while writing this piece, and their mid-tier and upper-tier figures diverge by as much as 50% at the same profile count, with a real disagreement over whether SMS sits inside the same tier as email or is billed as a separate add-on on top of it. Publishing one guide's table as fact when another contradicts it is exactly the kind of stale, unsourced claim we would flag in someone else's content, so we are not doing it in our own. If a number matters to your decision, get it from Klaviyo's own calculator against your real profile count, not from a table on a marketing page, ours included.

How to estimate yours

Export your current subscriber list and count who is actually engaged: opened or clicked in the last few months, not unsubscribed or bounced. That number, not your total contact count, is closer to what Klaviyo will actually bill you against. Run it through Klaviyo's own "build a plan estimate" tool for the current live figure, and if you are migrating from another platform, expect the active-profile count to differ from what your old tool called "subscribers," sometimes by a lot.

Where we sit, honestly

We are a Klaviyo agency, not a pricing comparison site, and the plan tier you land on is a decision you can make directly with Klaviyo. Where we help is what the account does once it is live: flow logic, segmentation and deliverability that make the spend earn its place, run by a team that runs Klaviyo on its own stores as well as clients'.

Common questions

How much does Klaviyo cost?
It depends on your active profile count, which is the number of contacts eligible to receive marketing, not your total contact list. Klaviyo's free plan covers up to 250 active profiles, 500 email sends a month and $5 of mobile messaging. Above that, the Email plan starts at roughly $20 a month, read from Klaviyo's own pricing page and two independent pricing guides on 14 August 2026. Beyond that first tier, Klaviyo does not publish a fixed rate table; it runs its own "build a plan estimate" calculator, priced against your exact profile count.
What counts as an active profile?
A contact who can currently receive email or SMS from you: subscribed, not suppressed or bounced. Unengaged or unsubscribed contacts sitting in your list do not count toward the tier your bill is based on, so a large but stale list can cost less than the total contact count suggests, and a smaller, highly engaged list can cost more.
Why can I not find a straight klaviyo pricing table?
Because Klaviyo does not publish one beyond the free tier, and the third-party guides that try to fill the gap disagree with each other. We checked three independent 2026 pricing guides for this page and found their mid-tier numbers apart by as much as 50%, with genuine disagreement over whether SMS sits inside the same tier as email or is billed as a separate add-on. Rather than repeat a number one guide states and another contradicts, we are telling you plainly: past the free tier, the only number worth trusting is the one Klaviyo's own calculator gives you against your actual profile count, or a quote.
Is klaviyo sms pricing separate from email?
Functionally yes: SMS runs on its own credit allowance even on the free plan ($5 of mobile messages a month), and paid SMS sends beyond that are billed as credits rather than folded silently into the email tier. Whether an Email+SMS plan is priced as one combined tier or email-plus-SMS-add-on varies by source, which is exactly the kind of detail worth confirming on the calculator against your own numbers rather than assuming from a guide.
Does Klaviyo price differently for UK customers?
No. Klaviyo's UK pricing page (klaviyo.com/uk/pricing) still quotes in US dollars, checked 2026-08-14: there is no GBP price list. Budget in USD and account for the exchange rate, the same caveat that applies to any US-headquartered SaaS tool without local pricing.
Do you help us pick a Klaviyo plan, or just build on it?
Both. As a Klaviyo agency we build the flows and segmentation, and part of that is telling you honestly when a smaller plan covers what you actually need rather than upselling the tier above it. We run Klaviyo on our own stores, so the account architecture advice comes from managing our own bill, not just a client’s.
